It also depends on how it was pronounced. I know it is hard to explain it in English, but there are two sounds in Hindi (ट and त) that are represented by t, therefore two different Hindi words with tota.

So, if tota is spoken with a dental t (like person with an Italian accent would say it), then it means तोता (parrot).

If tota was spoken with a hard retroflex t, then it means टोटा, which is a slang for a "hot chick".
